Navitan Finish 3365 is a semi-gloss acrylic polyurethane finishing coat for marine and industrial conditions. The product provides excellent durability and offers good gloss and colour retention. Resistant against spillage of hydrocarbons, oils and lubricants. Good recoating properties even after prolonged atmospheric exposure.

Surface Preparation

Surface should be clean and free of dirt, wax, grease, oil and all other impurities, and primed with a proper primer. For best results, surface problems after application such as overspray, orange peel, etc. should be eliminated, and appropriate primer and intermediate layer should be applied properly.

Mixing and Thinning

Navitan Finish 3365 is packaged in the proper mixing ratio of base and hardener. First, stir the base component with a power mixer until a smooth, homogeneous mixture is obtained. Keep stirring and add the curing agent slowly. When the hardener is completely poured, keep stirring for 15 more minutes. Pot life of the mixture is 4 hours at 23°C. Pot life shortens at higher environmental temperatures and can be longer at lower temperatures. Normally thinning of Navitan Finish 3365 is not required or desired, as excess solvent negatively affects application and appearance. However, at extreme environmental conditions, small amounts (5% or less by volume) of T-9 thinner may be added. A small amount of T-9 thinner makes brush and roller application easier. Any solvent addition should be made after the two components are thoroughly mixed.

Application

Trowel method (recommended for floor coating): The mixture is spread on the surface at desired thickness and levelled with a trowel.

Airless spray method: Graco Bulldog minimum 30:1 pump ratio airless spray equipment is recommended. Airless spray fluid tip orifice should be between 0.015″–0.019″, liquid pressure around 155–160 Kg/cm². Liquid-coat hose inner radius minimum 3/8″, length maximum 15 m. For longer hoses, inner radius should be larger. Long hoses with small inner radius reduce coating pressure at the spray tip and cause poor spray patterns. Pump pressure must be increased accordingly. All equipment should be kept dry.

During touch-up, Navitan 3365 may be applied with a brush (good quality and new) or roller (short nap and new). Maximum care should be taken to obtain the desired and uniform coating film. Do not apply on wet surfaces or surfaces with condensation or fog potential in conditions of high environmental humidity.

Precaution

Refer to material safety data sheet of the product. Minimum safety precautions in dealing with the paint are:

• Take precaution to avoid skin and eye contact (i.e. gloves, goggles, face mask, barrier creams, etc.)
• Provide adequate ventilation. Applicators must use face masks.
• If the product comes in contact with the skin, wash thoroughly with lukewarm water and soap or suitable industrial cleaner. If the eyes are contaminated flush with water (minimum 10 minutes) and obtain medical attention at once.
• Since these products contain flammable materials, keep away from sparks and open flames. No smoking should be permitted in the area.
• Observe all precautionary notices on containers.
